Revealed: Where to find Britain’s hottest singles, and it’s not looking good for London

You might assume that London or Manchester are home to the UK’s most attractive singles - but new data suggests the picture isn’t quite so straightforward.

We looked the half a million FlirtFinder members across the UK, analysed over 10.5 million votes on the Hotlist feature to find out how users interact with profiles. You can rate other users’ photos as “Hot” or “Not”, and by tracking these votes and breaking them down by city, the we can reveal which major urban areas are home to the most fancied singles online.

Liverpool tops the list, with 26.6% of profiles receiving a “Hot” vote. It’s closely followed by Glasgow (25.4%) and Leeds (24.8%), proving that some of the UK’s largest cities can still generate serious online attention.

Other cities making the top ten include Leicester (24.6%), Manchester (24.6%), Hull (24.5%), Cardiff (24.3%), Stoke on Trent (24.1%), Bradford (23.8%) and Southampton (23.6%).

At the other end of the scale, London comes in lower than some might expect, with just 21.6% of singles rated “Hot”. Other cities with a lower share of attention include Coventry (21.2%) and Belfast (20.8%).

It’s fascinating to see that the largest cities don’t always dominate when it comes to online attention. While places like Liverpool and Glasgow are leading the way, London and some other major urban areas aren’t quite getting the same share of ‘Hot’ votes. The results show that attractiveness online isn’t just about population size – it’s also about engagement and how users interact with each other.
